Literacy Volunteers

Your support will enable us to recruit, train, and match new volunteer tutors with students. It will also allow us to provide our current tutors all the support and resources they need to help students reach their education, employment, family, and community goals. Adult literacy education leads to positive outcomes for individuals and to a healthier economy, greater income equality, and a break in the cycle of intergenerational low-literacy. LVBTC’s work, supported by your investment, directly impacts the students we serve and provides a stronger base for parents to assist in the education of their children! About Literacy Volunteers of Broome-Tioga Counties, Inc.: Literacy Volunteers of Broome-Tioga Counties assists adults in developing functioning literacy skills. This includes improving the student’s ability to read and write, perform basic math functions, and to use computers, as well as to speak and comprehend the English language. Our services are provided at no cost to students. We utilize trained volunteers to provide these confidential educational services through a learner-centered approach that values and honors individual student needs and goals.
