High Woods Reformed Church

Recently we discovered the church belfry, which is original to the building, is badly in need of repairs. So this year we began a fundraising campaign to have our belfry restored, and are planning for work to begin in Spring 2026. We have contracted with a team that specializes in historic building restorations in Saugerties. We are learning to think outside the box to raise the funds needed to complete the work! But we have faith that our surrounding community will help us reach our goal and our church bell will once again ring in celebration!

About High Woods Reformed Church: In 1850 our congregation began meeting in a one-room schoolhouse on what is now Church Road in Saugerties. That makes this year our 175th year of worship! Our church was finally built in 1868, and we were able to purchase the schoolhouse at public auction. It still stands today across the street from our church and houses our historic Ladies Aid Society, which still meets weekly to make crafts for our church fundraisers as well as donating handcrafted blankets to local skilled nursing facilities. Our congregation is small in number but great in spirit!
